What Makes the 2026 Britannia Coin a Standout Option for Investors?
Synopsis
The 2026 Britannia series is now in stock. Our range includes 1 oz coins and fractional sizes to suit every budget. As an authorised partner, we source all Britannia coins directly from the Royal Mint’s headquarters in Llantrisant, South Wales.
UK Investors Back Britannia Coins Over All Others
When it comes to investing in physical gold, few coins are as popular in the UK as the 1 oz Gold Britannia. It has consistently been our top-selling bullion product since 1987, and its appeal continues to grow among investors of all levels.
When the 2025 Britannia series launched on 8th October 2024, the gold Britannia was priced at around £2,024 per ounce. As of 6th August, the gold price stands at £2,525 per ounce, an increase of just over £500 (+24.75%). Even with added premiums, investors who bought at launch have made a profit if they sold today.
The Gold Britannia was introduced by The Royal Mint, designed to compete with the well-established South African Krugerrand. Its iconic design features Lady Britannia, a symbol of British strength and unity, which has helped make it one of the most recognisable coins in the UK.
Britannia coins are available in gold, silver, and platinum, and come in a variety of sizes, making them accessible to both new and experienced investors.
Why Britannias Stand Out
One of the main reasons UK investors choose Britannia coins over other international bullion options is their Capital Gains Tax (CGT) exemption. Because Britannias are UK sterling, any profits made from selling them are not subject to CGT, a significant advantage for those looking to maximise returns.
Combining historic value, flexibility, and tax efficiency, Britannia coins offer a smart and secure way to invest in precious metals. Whether you're building your first portfolio or expanding an existing one, Britannias provide a reliable option backed by decades of trust and performance.

Security Features of the 2026 Britannia Coin Range
These coins incorporates the cutting-edge security features, first introduced in 2021. One such feature is the small latent image on the bottom-left of the coin, which acts as a hologram, seamlessly transitioning between a trident and a padlock depending on the angle at which the coin is held.
Additionally, a micro-text border encircling Britannia bears the inscription "DECUS ET TUTAMEN", translating to “an ornament and a safeguard”. The field of the coin boasts surface animation, with micro-waves creating lines in the background, and tincture lines added to showcase the intricate play of colours and patterns on the metal.
