What is Bullion?

Bullion refers to precious metals like gold and silver, valued primarily for their weight and purity. It’s typically bought as coins or bars and traded close to its intrinsic metal value. This is irrespective of the coin's condition, unlike proof and uncirculated products, that may have a value above the intrinsic price.

More information can be found on our blog page, What is Bullion?

What is the British Lion?

First appearing in the late 12th century, the British Lion became a national symbol as popularised under Richard I (Richard the Lionheart). The king's shield featured three golden lions, forming the basis of the Royal Arms of England.

The Lion has also appeared in the Royal Tudor Beasts Series, with the Queen's Lion design, also by David Lawrence.

What Is Capital Gains Tax?

Capital Gains Tax (CGT) is a form of levies imposed on the profit garnered from the sale of assets, such as real estate, investments, and collectibles.

In the United Kingdom, the present CGT allowance is £3,000 per annum per individual, which implies that one can earn up to £3,000 from the sale of assets prior to being subject to CGT.

Obverse

The obverse features the uncrowned coinage portrait of King Charles III designed by Martin Jennings. The inscription reads:

CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 100 POUNDS ·

Reverse

The reverse, designed by David Lawrence, depicts the lion in a bold stance, holding a shield as a symbol of protection. In the background, a Union Jack animation adds visual appeal and enhanced security. Alongside the design is the following inscription:

- LEO BRITANNICVS -
