As leading UK dealers since 1964, we are always keen and eager to buy all gold, silver and numismatic coins. Whether you have a single coin or several thousand, whether it's an extreme rarity or a bullion coin, we will always be interested in buying at competitive prices.
Our selling prices for individual graded coins reflect the high stock levels we need to carry, and both administrative and capital costs, together with the high level of service we provide. Please note our typical selling prices for quantity as bullion coins, rather than our individual prices for selected coins, before contacting us to sell sovereigns. The vast majority of sovereigns that we are offered are "bullion" sovereigns. Naturally some will be in better or worse grade, younger or older, than others, but these factors on their own do not necessarily make any or much difference to their bullion value.
If you have a large quantity of gold sovereigns to sell, we will accept your instructions on price, or offer you helpful advice on selling.
Please by aware that sovereigns and other gold coins which have been mounted for use in jewellery are often sub-standard as bullion coins. We will still buy these, but as we usually have to scrap them , we will only buy them at scrap gold prices rather than as coins. Even so, our buying prices will be higher for these than most of our competitors offer for perfect coins.
We get offered fake sovereigns on an almost daily basis. We will buy these, but again we will only buy them for their scrap gold content. Again, our buying prices will probably be higher for these than many of our competitors offer for genuine coins.
Rare Date & Mintmark Sovereigns & Sovereigns in Exceptional Condition
As coin dealers, we do buy rare and collectable coins of all types including sovereigns. If you know or believe you have sovereigns which are rare or highly valuable, you are best to advise us of this, as otherwise we assume that you are offering us bullion sovereigns, and any offer we make will be on that basis. Many sellers give us a list of their sovereigns, often with dates, mintmarks, and grades. We treat lists in a similar manner to actual coins. It is not our job to peruse lists and identify rarities and high value coins, If you have a rare or highly valuable coin, it is your job to communicate this to your buyer.
Selling Gold Bars, Krugerrands, Individual Coins and Sets
Bullion or Rare
We will buy gold bullion coins, or rare gold coins. Please note our selling prices for individual graded coins reflect the high stock levels we need to carry, and both administrative and capital costs, together with the high level of service we provide. Please note our typical selling prices for quantity, rather than our individual prices, before contacting us to sell coins.
We are happy to buy any quantity of coins, from a single piece upwards, without limit. If you have a large quantity of gold coins to sell, we will accept your instructions on price, or offer you helpful advice on selling. We are one of the longest established and largest gold buyers in Britain. One of our competitors told us that for security reasons they will not buy more than 20 Krugerrands at one time, and not buy any more until they have disposed of them.
Fair and Competitive Prices
Our buying prices for gold coins, and other coins, are fair and competitive, but depend and change based on underlying gold prices, and other market conditions such as supply and demand.
Gold Proof Coin Sets
Naturally, we also buy proof gold coins, and sets of gold proof coins. Once again we are happy to buy any quantity and pay competitive prices.
We also frequently buy gold coins from many other countries. There is no import duty or tax on entry to the UK for most gold coins or bars.
Although we have listed the most common gold alloys, there are numerous other standards, and we are happy to buy all.
We Buy Any Quantity
We are happy to buy any quantity of scrap, from a single piece upwards, without limit. If you have a large quantity of gold scrap to sell, we will accept your instructions on price, or offer you helpful advice on selling. We are one of the longest established and largest gold buyers in Britain.
We Pay Fair and Competitive Prices
Our buying prices for gold coins, bars and scrap are fair and competitive, but depend and change based on underlying gold prices, and other market conditions such as supply and demand.
How Much? What Percentage? - 90%?
Our price per gram buying prices change constantly with fluctuating gold bullion market prices. Our percentage buying prices do change occasionally, subject to other market conditions. Currently, our typical buying prices for hallmarked scrap gold work out at around 90% of intrinsic value. This means we pay a higher percentage than 99% of our competitors. This varies slightly depending on quantity, size, and other factors. We will buy unhallmarked gold at lower percentages to allow for testing time and cost, and the extra risk factor involved. American gold alloys are usually a half carat deficient (legally), so will be bought at an adjusted percentage. If we make an offer for your gold and you wish it returned, we make a £10 charge to cover postage, insurance, packaging, and handling. We will normally post your returned items within 24 hours.
Offers, Payments, & Other Stuff
If you call in to our showroom, we will try to assess you gold while you wait, (please bring suitable ID, and we may ask for proof of ownership). We normally pay immediately by either cheque or bank transfer (BACS). Same day (CHAPS) transfers attract a £30.00 charge. We can and will pay cash, but make a 1% charge for this, except for some small transactions at our discretion. If you want cash, you should visit within normal banking hours. You may notice we do not advertise "Cash for Gold" as this may attract the wrong type of clientele! If you post gold to us, we will try to contact you to advise receipt, and also try to make you an offer the same day. You do not have to accept our offer, on the spot or at all, but the price is subject to change according to spot gold prices. Obviously, we prefer to get each deal done as quickly as possible, and move on to the next job and the next customer. Once you accept our offer, it is mutually binding; we will then process your payment by your preferred method, and adopt your scrap or other items into our stock. Although we are a small, private limited company, we have a net asset backing in excess of £1 million. Our latest audited accounts are available from Companies House. We can also pay in US Dollars or Euros. Your bank may make a charge for handling this. We may also make a small charge for this (typically 1%).
If you are sending the items, download the Sell To Chard form, fill it in and send it with your items. We recommend using Royal Mail Special Delivery.
