Selling Gold Sovereigns to Us

Synopsis

If you are looking to sell your gold Sovereign coins, or would like to know how much your gold Sovereigns are worth, you're in the right place.

We also buy gold half Sovereigns.

We Are Currently Paying Up To:

£736.15

Based in London, Edinburgh or Birmingham? Sell From Anywhere in the UK!

We offer a fully insured, door to door service for any value and quantity of bullion gold and silver. We arrange a trusted courier to pick up from your front door and deliver everything next day to our offices in Blackpool.

This service is fully tracked and signed for, and you can be rest assured the whole investment value of the posted items is insured. Once you inform us what you would like to sell, we will offer an option to fix the price and provide an estimate of delivery costs. Following this we will post out a tamper proof box, shipping label, packing instructions that are easy to follow and book a courier to collect at your convenience. All we ask is that you provide a 3-hour window that you are happy to wait at home for the collection.

Our distance buy-in process is perfect if you are looking to sell large quantities of gold Sovereigns, or even if you live too far away to justify driving. The whole process takes 3 or 4 working days and you can expect payment as soon as we check the items for authenticity and the quantity quoted.

Further information of the process can be found through our distance buy-in guide

Selling Sovereigns from Vaulted Storage

Selling your Sovereigns back from storage has never been easier! When you're ready to sell, simply click the "Sell Items" button found in your account area, as outlined in our Selling From Vaulted Storage page, or contact us and let our friendly UK-based team know which items you'd like to sell.

Can I Sell Sovereigns In Person?

Absolutely! We're always happy to see our customers at either of our Blackpool or London locations, just book an appointment and we will be able to answer any questions you may have and provide and offer for your Sovereign coins.

How to Send Coins and Bullion By Post?

Selling gold Sovereigns to us is very easy, either through a method mentioned above, or posting directly to us. Since 1964 we have transacted much of our business by mail and sending coins to us by post is quite simple and reliable.

Within the UK, we recommend the Royal Mail's Special Delivery service. On receipt we will agree a price with you if we have not already done so, and send a cheque by return first class post or make a BACS payment. If you have a large amount of coins, it is advisable to let us know in advance.

To ensure safety during transit and the best offer possible for your coins, we recommend packaging your coins securely.

Try to wrap each coin separately if valuable, or roll a quantity of coins in paper or plastic, such as plastic bank coin bags, to form a cylinder. Tape them up tightly after wrapping so that the coins cannot move around and scratch each other. Surround the roll with bubble wrap or tape it to cardboard so that it cannot move around inside the package. Try to use the smallest possible outer box or envelope to reduce the amount of slack inside.

Please do not tape the coins directly as this can damage the coin's finish or leave residue.

An Established Sovereign Dealer

As a leading UK dealer since 1964, we are always keen and eager to buy gold Sovereigns. Whether you have a single coin or several thousand, an extreme rarity or something only fit to scrap, we will always be interested in offering competitive prices for your Sovereigns.

Bullion Sovereigns

The majority of Sovereigns that we are offered are "bullion" Sovereigns. Naturally, the grade condition and dates of these coins will vary, but these factors on their own do not necessarily make any or much difference to their bullion value.

Rare and Exceptional Condition Sovereigns

Ansell Victoria Shield Sovereign

As coin dealers, we do buy rare and collectable coins of all types, including Sovereigns. If you know or believe you have Sovereigns which are rare or highly valuable, we recommend letting us know when you do contact us to sell, as otherwise we could assume that you are selling bullion Sovereigns, and any offer we make will be on that basis.

An example would be our purchase and subsequent sale of the highly sought after 1859 Ansell Sovereign, pictured to the left.

If you do have multiple rare coins that you're intending to sell, we recommend providing a listed breakdown including dates, mintmarks, grades etc. to allow us to make as educated an offer as possible.

Ex-Jewellery Sovereigns

Please by aware that Sovereigns and other gold coins which have been mounted for use in jewellery are often sub-standard to bullion-grade coins. We will still buy these, but as we usually have to scrap them and typically will only buy them at scrap gold prices rather than as coins.

Fake Sovereigns

We get offered fake Sovereigns on an almost daily basis. We will buy these, but again we will only buy them for their scrap gold content.

If you're interested in learning about fake Sovereigns, check out our Fakes, Forgeries and Counterfeits blog. We also have multiple videos covering fake Sovereigns and coins in general on our YouTube channel.
