History of Britannia

Britannia King Charles III Design

After the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on 8th September 2022, Martin Jennings sculpted and designed the new King Charles III definitive coinage uncrowned portrait. This portrait first appeared on Britannia coins for the second Britannia release of 2023.

However, for the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla, the talented engraver designed the crowned portrait, which appeared on another popular UK bullion coin - The 2023 Coronation sovereign.
