This 2013 floral gold proof one pound coin is the first in a two year series of four £1 designs by Timothy Noad commemorating the four countries that make up the United Kingdom. The design for England features the English Oak and the Rose.

Struck in 22 carat gold this one pound coin is British legal tender and is exempt from Capital Gains Tax. The gold proof coin comes in a presentation box with a certificate of authenticity.

This is the first floral design since the best-selling series of 1984.

The second design which was also issued in 2013 for Wales features the Welsh Leek and the daffodil, traditionally sported on St David’s Day.

The third and fourth designs in the series for Scotland and Northern Ireland are both issued in 2014.

On 28 March 2017, the circulated round pound was replaced by the 12 sided £1 coin. On the 15 October the round £1 coin will cease to be legal tender. Read more about the pound coin in our blogs:
