The 2011 Cardiff £1 coin is the last in the British Cities series of four one pound coins released between 2010 and 2011.

In 2011, the two coins were released, one representing Cardiff and the other, Edinburgh. Each coin in this four coin series features a city badge as the main design with three smaller badges for the remaining cities.
The coin weighs 19.619g, which is almost three times the weight of a British sovereign. Each of these commemorative coin comes in a presentation box and is accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity. Only 524 of the gold proof coins were issued out of the original 1,000 limit.
