This is a two coin set featuring the 2016 Farewell to Nations £1 and a special 2016 edition of the 12-sided Nations of the Crown £1, featuring an exclusive mint mark. Both coins are struck in brilliant uncirculated condition and come in a colourful presentation folder. Neither of these coins have been issued for circulation.
A rare chance to own a 2016 edition of the 12-sided £1 coin, along with the final round £1 issued. Neither of these coins have been issued for circulation.
The 2016 dated 12-sided £1 coin includes an exclusive mint mark, not present on the 2017 coin. It shows a ‘cross crosslet’ mint mark, on the reverse of the coin.
The coins come presented together. They have limited edition presentation of just 10,000.
On 28 March 2017, the circulated round pound was replaced by the 12 sided £1 coin. On the 15 October the round £1 coin will cease to be legal tender. Read more about the pound coin in our blogs:
The obverse of both coins shows the Jody Clark fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
The farewell one pound coin features the beasts of the four nations. It was designed by the amateur artist and coin collector, Gregory Cameron, and represents the equality and dignity of the country.
The reverse of the 12-sided coin was designed by David Pearce. It shows the floral symbols from the four nations of the United Kingdom; the rose for England, the leek for Wales, the thistle for Scotland and a shamrock for Northern Ireland.
