1831 Gold Full Sovereign William IV London

The 1831 gold sovereign was the first sovereign to be issued during the reign of King William IV. There are three varieties distinguished first by a change in the designer intials. W.W. changed to WW removing the stops (Spink no. 3829A). Then a second portrait of the king was issued with broader ears and a flatter nose (Spink no. 3829B). All three versions were issued in 1831.
