The Gruffalo was first published on 23rd March, 1999. It was written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler. The book tells the story of a mouse and his journey through the forest, scaring off dangerous animals with tales of the Gruffalo - a mythical monster who is part buffalo, part grizzly bear and all monster! Little does he know that the Gruffalo actually exists and he is about to come face to face with him. The popular children's story has sold over 13.5 million copies worldwide.
