These 2022 25th Anniversary of the £2 Gold Proof Coins celebrate 25 years of the bimetallic UK £2 coin.

This coin features the iconic 'Technology' Standing on the Shoulders of Giants design, but also incorporates a lenticular number '25' in the centre of the reverse.

The reverse was designed by English coin designer Bruce Rushin, and was used between 1997 until 2015. The obverse features Jody Clark's fifth coinage portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Each coin is struck in 22 carat gold (0.9167 fineness) and issued by The Royal Mint. This coin has a limited-edition presentation of 275.

Who is Bruce Rushin?

Bruce Rushin is an art teacher and coin designer. He entered and won the Royal Mint's new £2 coin design competition in 1997, having had no experience in coin design.

Obverse

The obverse features HM Queen Elizabeth II with a special privy mark in the form of the central Iron Age circle. The inscription reads as:

Reverse

The reverse features Bruce Rushin's iconic technology reverse design with a lenticular number '25' in the centre. In addition, the inner part of the design is 22ct yellow gold, whilst the outer ring is 22ct red gold.
