2021 Tokyo Olympics Team GB Silver Proof Piedfort Fifty Pence Coin

Celebrate Team GB at the 2020 Summer Olympics with these piedfort silver proof coins! These coins were originally due to be issued in 2020 but, due to COVID-19, were delayed until 2021

These silver proof piedfort coins are double the thickness of a normal 50p. Each coin is struck from 0.925 fine silver and supplied in a presentation box, with a numbered certificate of authenticity.

These coins have a total mintage of 5,510 and a limited edition presentation of 5,500

2020 / 2021 Team GB 50p Coins

The 2020 Summer Olympics were originally due to commence on 22nd July 2020, but due to COVID-19, will now start on 23rd July 2021.

There are two different versions of this coin; one dated 2020 on the obverse, the other 2021. The 2020-dated Team GB 50p coins were originally issued as part of the 2020 annual UK coin sets. The Royal Mint had intended to release the coins individually in 2020 but had to change their plan when the games were postponed. They re-issued the same coin design in 2021, but with a 2021-dated obverse.

Obverse

The obverse shows the right-facing Jody Clark portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

Reverse

The reverse of the coin was designed by David Knapton. It features different sports equipment, with the inscription “TEAM GB” and the date 2021 with the Olympic Rings. The Team GB logo and the Olympic Rings are coloured.

Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
