The 2021 3-Coin Proof Sovereign Set contains a sovereign, half sovereign and quarter sovereign, all struck to a proof finish. The coins feature a special cypher mintmark to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 95th birthday.

These sets are issued in wooden presentation boxes, accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.

The coins are struck from 22 carat gold. The set contains 0.412 troy ounces of the precious metal. Only 750 of these sets have been issued.

The Modern Sovereign

The modern sovereign was introduced in 1817 and has been issued most years since. The coins continue to be highly sought after by investors and collectors alike.

Proof Coins

These proof coins are struck to a much higher standard than bullion coins. The blanks are struck up to 6 times each in order to give the coins the very best finish.

Obverse

The obverse was designed by Jody Clark. It is the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to be used on UK coins.

The text reads:

Reverse

The reverse was designed by Benedetto Pistrucci and shows the iconic St. George and the Dragon. This has been used on sovereigns (with a few exceptions) since 1817. Over the years The Royal Mint have digitally remastered the dies using original tooling.

This 2021 coin features a cypher mintmark of a '95' inside a crown. This is to celebrate the 95th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.

The edge of the coins have the following number of serrations; sovereign 95, half sovereign 94, quarter sovereign 97.

Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
