This is the 2020 75th Anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) £2 Coin. This collectable coin commemorates the landmark moment in British history.
The brilliant uncirculated coin was issued by The Royal Mint and comes in a colourful presentation folder.
On 8th May 2020 it will be the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day (VE Day), the day in which Nazi Germany formally surrendered in World War II. The war lasted for six years and caused major destruction, taking the lives of millions of people. When news of Germany's surrender was announced, celebrations spread throughout the country. This coin captures the relief felt by so many people that the war was finally over.
The obverse shows the Jody Clark coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fifth coinage portrait of Her Majesty to appear on UK coins.
The reverse was designed by Dominique Evans and captures the relief that people felt when World War II was finally over. The coin shows a crowd of people celebrating with rays of sunshine and "VICTORY" in the background. The dates 1945 - 2020 appear at the top, with "VICTORY IN EUROPE DAY" at the bottom.
