Dinosauria Fifty Pence Collection

These coins celebrate the work of the first palaeontologists. Remains of the dinosaurs on the coins in this collection, Megalosaurus, Iguanodon and Hylaeosaurus, led anatomist Richard Owen to conclude that all three belonged to a distinct group of reptiles, coining the term ‘Dinosauria’ to describe this new taxonomic group. His discovery fuelled public imagination and ‘dinomania’ shows no signs of abating today.

Obverse

The obverse features the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.

Reverse

The reverse of the coins was designed by the palaeo-artist Robert Nicholls. They were designed in conjunction with the Natural History Museum to ensure the depiction was anatomically accurate.

Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
