The 2012 sovereign is popular with collectors interested in 'type' sovereigns.
Previous one-off designs issued during Elizabeth II's reign include the 1989 500th Anniversary Sovereign, the 2002 Shield Reverse Sovereign issued to celebrate the Queens Golden Jubilee, the 2005 Sovereign featuring a stylised version of the traditional St George & Dragon design, the 2016 proof sovereign bearing the Queen's 90th birthday portrait and the 2017 sovereigns - both proof and uncirculated - issued to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Modern Sovereign.
These British legal tender coins are exempt from Capital Gains Tax and are classed as investment gold. You do not pay VAT on investment gold.
The obverse is the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
The reverse, by Paul Day, features a new interpretation of St. George and the Dragon. The engraver's initials are below the horse's hoof on the right of the coin and the date, 2012, is set on the left of the coin.

All investment products are based on the live precious metal price. Prices will be fixed once the item has been added to the basket and recalculates just before checking out.
