Umicore Bullion

Umicore (formerly Union Minière), is a multinational materials technology company headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. It was formed by a merger of four companies from the mining and smelting industries 1989 and changed its name to Umicore in 2001 to reflect its diversification into other industry areas.

VAT on Silver

Value Added Tax is payable on new silver bars and coins in the UK and most states within the European Union, as it is for palladium and platinum bullion. The only exemption from this is for investment gold, which is exempt from VAT in the EU.

For secondary market bullion, VAT is added on to the profit margin of the bars/coins, making secondary market bullion a better invesment over new bar or coins. We have an explainer for special scheme silver here.

These may have minor scratches or edge knocks, but this does not affect their value. Any coin sold for a value less than a 180% intrinsic is considered a bullion coin.
VAT:
Investment gold products are VAT-free, while silver products include VAT.
Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
