Investiture of Prince Charles

Prince Charles was made The Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester on the 26th of July 1958. His actual investiture took place just under 11 years later at Caernarvon Castle, on the 1st July 1969.

Obverse

The obverse of this coin depicts Prince Charles wearing his formal attire holding the royal sceptre.

Lettering:

CHARLES PRINCE OF WALES 10th ANNIVERSARY OF THE INVESTITURE

Reverse

The reverse features the Jamaican coat of arms mounted by a crocodile atop the Royal Helmet of the British monarchy and mantling. The shield bears five pineapples and is supported on either side by a male and a female member of the Taino tribe. The motto "OUT OF MANY, ONE PEOPLE" represents the unity of the country's rich multi-racial history. This is a slight modification of the original coat of arms issued to Jamaica in 1661.

Lettering:

1969 JAMAICA 1979 TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS
