Understanding the Risks of Bullion Investment

What Is the Risk of Bullion Investments?

It is important for all investors to understand that precious metals investments, including gold, silverplatinum, palladium bullion coins and bars, are unregulated in the United Kingdom. Other precious metals that make up the total of eight are rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, and osmium.

The London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) states in their Guide to the Loco London Precious Metals Market, Section 16: 'Precious metals are traded in a wholesale market for professionals; hence, like the foreign exchange market, it is not directly regulated as a market.' (See Source)

As precious metals are not regulated by the FCA, the protections offered by the Financial Ombudsman and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme do not apply. The value of these investments is variable, meaning it could either increase or decrease. Additionally, while past performance shows that gold has increased substantially in recent years, this does not guarantee future performance.

How Chards Coin and Bullion Dealer Is Compliant?

At Chards Coin and Bullion Dealer, transparency and compliance are at the heart of our operations. To uphold these principles, we adhere to the strict guidelines set by the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) and the Committee of Advertising Practice (CAP) for promoting gold bullion. All team members communicating with customers ensure investors understand that gold investments can fluctuate in value and are unregulated in the UK.
