Elizabeth II

For Elizabeth II, the reverse design of the brass threepence features a crowned portcullis, originally a badge of Henry VII.

Thruppenny Bit

Due to decimalisation, the last threepences issued were dated 1967, although they were produced for a few years afterwards, the date was frozen at 1967 to discourage coin collecting. After the 31st August 1971, brass threepences were demonitised.

1970 brass threepences were minted for annual coin sets, however they were only issued with a proof finish.

The obverse shows a portrait of Elizabeth II facing right by Mary Gillick.

Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
