Withdrawal from the European Union Fifty Pence Coin in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. This 2020 coin was issued to celebrate the UK finally leaving the EU on the 31st January, 2020.

To mark the iconic date, The Royal Mint have issued the coins in Brilliant Uncirculated and Silver Proof. A strike-on-the-day sovereign featuring an exclusive crowned portcullis privy mark has also been issued.

History of the Brexit 50p

After the EU Referendum on 23rd June 2016, the UK finally left the European Union on 31st January 2020. The coin, just like the withdrawal itself, has had a turbulent history. The first coin was to be issued bearing the original exit date of 29th March, 2019. To our knowledge The Royal Mint did not begin production on the coins, and only created test pieces bearing this date.

The second coin, dated 31st October 2019, was actually minted. As the withdrawal date was once again pushed back, over a million coins were melted down and recycled.

This is the third version of the coin and hopefully the last!

Obverse

The obverse bears the Jody Clark effigy of HM Queen Elizabeth II. This is the fifth UK coinage portrait of the Queen.

Reverse

The reverse features the text:

Investment gold products are VAT-free, while silver products include VAT.
Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
