Royal Air Force

The Royal Air Force was formed on 1st April, 1918. It was formed at the end of World War I from the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service.

Since its formation, the RAF has played a vital role in British military history, the most famous being The Battle of Britain, in which the Royal Air Force in combination with the Royal Navy, Fleet Air Arm and Royal Canadian Air Force defended the British Isles with the legendary Hawker Hurricane and Supermarine Spitfire planes.

Red Arrows

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, more commonly known as the Red Arrows, was formed in 1964 as the official display team of the Royal Air Force. Created to demonstrate the professionalism, precision, and excellence of RAF pilots, the team is based at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire and flies the iconic BAE Systems Hawk T1 fast-jet aircraft.

Since its formation, the Red Arrows have become one of the world’s premier aerobatic display teams, representing the United Kingdom both at home and internationally. Renowned for their distinctive red aircraft, trademark smoke trails, and highly disciplined flying formations, the team performs a wide range of complex manoeuvres, showcasing exceptional skill, teamwork, and dedication while promoting the values and capabilities of the Royal Air Force.
