The History of The White Greyhound of Richmond

In 1449, Henry VI granted the title of Earl of Richmond to his half-brother Edmund Tudor. Edmund was permitted to use a version of the Royal Arms featuring a white greyhound as a heraldic beast.

The white greyhound symbolised his Tudor and Lancastrian ancestry. Edmund's son would later become King Henry VII after defeating King Richard III.

The Tudor Beasts

The Tudor Beasts (also known as the King's Beasts) are a series of heraldic statues, which flank the moat bridge at Hampton Court Palace. The ten statues represent King Henry VIII's Tudor ancestry and his marriage to his third wife, Jane Seymour.

What Is Capital Gains Tax?

For UK residents, coins which are current UK sterling legal tender are exempt from capital gains tax (CGT).
