The African Wildlife Elephant Bullion Coin Series showcases annual new obverse designs featuring African elephants, symbolising the majestic wildlife of the continent.

Somali Republic African Wildlife Series

The African Wildlife Series began in 2004, initially available as a silver bullion coin, and it achieved great success. In 2010, Somalia introduced the 24-carat gold bullion coin version.

In 2018, Somalia introduced the second animal in the African Wildlife series: the leopard. This coin is also available in both gold and silver, catering to both investors and coin collectors.

The obverse of the coin depicts two African male elephants engaged in a battle, possibly to establish authority, gain the attention of a female elephant, or assert their dominance over rival males.

At the edge of the coin are the following inscriptions:

On the Reverse of the coin we see the Somalian Republics Coat of arms displayed. This features two standing leopards either side of a shield with a central star, perching on two spears which run through a ribbon.
