These gold proof two pound coins honour the life of forces' sweetheart, Dame Vera Lynn. The coins feature a beautifully detailed portrait of Dame Vera, as she appeared during the height of her fame.

Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Dame Vera Lynn

The singer is best known for her work entertaining the troops during the second world war. Her song 'We'll Meet Again' is undoubtedly one of the most famous songs of the wartime era. Dame Vera passed away in 2020 at the age of 103. 2022 would have been Vera's 105th birthday.

Obverse

There are rumours that the obverse of these coins will feature John Bergdahl's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on horseback. If so, this will be different to the coins issued as part of sets, which feature Jody Clark's definitive coinage portrait.

Reverse

Designed by the Royal Mint Coin Design Team, the reverse of this UK £2 coin features a beautifully detailed portrait of Dame Vera as she appeared during the height of her fame. The inscription reads:

“DAME VERA LYNN 1917 - 2020”
