These 2022 100 Years of BBC Silver Proof 50p Coins were issued by the Royal Mint. Celebrate 100 years of the British institution with these collectible coins!

These coins bear a reverse design which features the BBC's directive, "INFORM EDUCATE ENTERTAIN". The obverse shows the Jody Clark portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

Struck to a proof finish, these coins have a fineness of .925 sterling silver. Each coin contains 0.238 troy ounces of the precious metal.

These coins come in presentation boxes, with a booklet about the history of the BBC. They are issued with a certificate of authenticity from the Royal Mint.

These silver BBC coins have a limited edition presentation of 3,500 coins.

100 Years of the BBC

Founded in 1922, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) is the oldest national broadcaster in the world, and, employing over 23,000 people, also the largest.

With a directive to inform, educate and entertain, the BBC started as a humble 4-person operation, making daily radio broadcasts in London. During World War II these radio shows provided much-needed comfort to the nation.

Adapting to new technology, the BBC began television broadcasting 1936. Through the years it has expanded and now has 10 TV channels, 10 national radio stations, 40 local radio stations and a very extensive website. The BBC World Service offers news and information in over 40 languages.

The obverse bears the Jody Clark portrait of the late Queen Elizabeth II. The text reads:

Reverse

The reverse was designed by Henry Gray, and features a globe with transmitter waves. The text reads:

Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
