Demand for the Chinese Panda is not limited to the home market in China. Collectors eagerly await the release of Pandas each year and older issues are highly prized.
The obverse was designed by the China Gold Coin Incorporation (CGCI) and shows the Temple of Heaven. Located in Peking, the site of worship is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Chinese inscription for "People's Republic of China" appears above the coin, with the date "2021" underneath.
The reverse was designed by coin artist Tong Fang. It shows a mother and baby panda on a tree branch. The coin denomination of 500 Yuan is featured to the right of the pandas.
