2021 Britannia Two Ounce Gold Proof Coin - NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo

These 2021 coins are the first 2 oz gold Britannias to be issued! The coins feature a stunning reverse design by P.J. Lynch. Reminiscent of William Wyon's Una and the Lion design, it shows Britannia seated with a lion.

These gold proof coins have been graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC), and have attained the highest grade of PF70. It's worth noting the coins are also Ultra Cameo, meaning there's a high contrast between the matte and mirror finish on the design.

These 2 oz gold proof coins are struck from 999.9 fine gold. Although the coins our housed in their own protective case, each coin comes with the original wooden presentation box, with a numbered certificate of authenticity from The Royal Mint.

When these coins were first released they sold out within minutes! One was sold in June 2021 in the London Coin auctions for £8190 including buyer fee (lot 254).

According to the certificate the maximum coin mintage is 103 coins, but it has a limited edition presentation of 50 pieces.

Obverse

The obverse of the coin features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. It was designed by Jody Clark. The text reads:

Reverse

The reverse features a beautiful new design by artist, P.J. Lynch. It shows a seated Britannia, holding her shield and trident in her left hand, with a lion seated on her right.
