2021 Alice's Adventures in Wonderland One Ounce Gold Proof Coin Sold Out At The Mint!

This Alice in Wonderland coin is the first release in The Royal Mint's Treasury of Tales Series, and the first of two Alice in Wonderland coins. The coin features an image of Alice and The Cheshire Cat which appeared in the first publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. This coin was created in collaboration with the V&A Museum.

The coins are issued in collaboration with the Victoria and Albert Museum, whose Alice in Wonderland exhibition is running until the end of 2021.

This coin is now sold out at the mint which is not suprising with the low mintage and first in a new series.

Struck from 999 fine gold (24 carat), this 1 ounce coin is issued to a proof standard. Each coin comes in a presentation box, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.

Mintage of 160 coins, with a limited edition presentation of 150.

Alice in Wonderland

The children's story has been a firm favourite amongst children since it was first published in 1865. Written by Lewis Carroll, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland tells the story of a young girl who falls down a rabbit hole. On her journey she meets an assortment of characters, including the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, The Cheshire Cat and Tweedledee and Tweedledum. To date, the book has been translated into 176 languages and has never been out of print!

Reverse

The reverse features an illustration by Sir John Tenniel taken from the first publication of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Designed by engraver Ffion Gwillim, it shows Alice looking up at the Cheshire Cat. The text reads:
