This is the 2020 Remembrance Day BU £5 Coin. This base metal coin is struck to Brilliant Uncirculated finish and comes displayed in a colourful presentation folder.

The coin not only commemorates Remembrance Day, but also the 100th anniversary since the burial of the Unknown Warrior.

The Royal Mint will donate a small percentage of sales of this coin to support the work of Imperial War Museums.

Centenary of the Unknown Warrior

On 11th November 1920 the body of an unidentified British soldier was laid to rest in Westminster Abbey. The memorial is the first example of a Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and pays respect to the many thousands of soldiers who have died at war.

The memorial states:

They buried him among the Kings because he had done good toward god and toward his house.

Also on Armistice Day 1920, an unknown French soldier was also buried under the Arc de Triumph in Paris.

Obverse

The obverse was designed by The Royal Mint artist, Jody Clark. It is the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II to be used on UK coins. The text reads:

Reverse

The reverse was designed by Natasha Preece and it shows the silhouette of a soldier, with poppies in the background. The text reads:
