2020 Brilliant Uncirculated Iguanodon Fifty Pence Coin. The first issues in the Royal Mint's Tales of the Earth Series are the The Dinosauria Collection coins. The other coins in the collection feature the Hylaeosaurus and the Iguanodon.

This Brilliant Uncirculated Fifty Pence Coin comes in a colourful presentation folder featuring information about the dinosaur. These coins have an unlimited mintage.

The coins are available in different finishes, including a non-coloured silver proof and coloured silver proof version, as well as a gold proof coin.

Privy Council

The Privy Council is made up of senior politicians who advise the Queen on such matters as bank holidays, coinage and lively company statuses. The Royal Mint have to submit any new coin designs to The Privy Council for approval. The information is then announced on the Privy Council website.

The Royal Mint have not yet relesed information about the coins and when they do it will be subject to embargo.

Iguanodon

The Iguanodon was a dinosaur that existed roughly 125 million years ago. The dinosaur was a herbivore and was able to shift from walking four limbs to walking on two.

It was discovered by palaeontologist, Gideon Mantell in 1825. The original name was Iguana-saurus, however it was changed to Iguanodon, which means 'iguana tooth'.

Obverse

The Jody Clark effigy of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of the coin. This is the fifth coinage portrait.

Reverse

According to the privy council website, the coins will feature:-

a design depicting an Iguanodon accompanied by the inscription

“IGUANODON” and “MANTELL 1825”
