This silver proof £2 coin celebrates the 260th Anniversary of Wedgwood. This coin was issued by The Royal Mint in conjunction with Wedgwood.

Wedgwood was founded by Josiah Wedgwood, a tradesman who found a market in mass-produced pottery with luxurious designs. The brand has held a Royal Warrant since 1995, with pieces being owned by the Royal Family for over 250 years.

Obverse

The obverse bears the fifth coin portrait of Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.

Reverse

The reverse was designed by the design team at Wedgwood and shows the vase that started it all - the Portland Vase. It's the most recognised piece that the brand produces and features ornamental frieze. The text reads:

"Wedgwood 1759-2019"

The edge text on the coin reads:

"EVERYTHING GIVES WAY TO EXPERIMENT"
