This 2018 Silver Proof 50p coin commemorates the 40th Anniversary since the publication of the classic childrens book, The Snowman.

This stunning Christmas coin was issued by The Royal Mint and features a colourful design.

The Snowman was written by Raymond Briggs and was first published in 1978. The book has no words and the story is told completely through illustrations.

The book was adapted into an animated film in 1982, and remains a Christmas classic.

Obverse

The obverse of the coin shows the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.

Reverse

The reverse was designed by Natasha Ratcliffe. She is a member of the council of The British Art Medal Society. It shows the boy and the snowman soaring across the sky, with Brighton Pier visable below.

The coin was made with Robin Shaw, the Assistant Director of The Snowman and the Snowdog.

This is the first UK coin to have a fully coloured design on the reverse.

Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
