2018 Royal Air Force Centenary - Badge £2 Coin as issued by The Royal Mint. This is the silver proof piedfort coin, which comes in a presentation box, along with a certificate of authenticity.
This is the first coin in the Royal Mint's 2018 Royal Air Force £2 coin collection. There will be 5 coins in total.
The Royal Air Force was formed on 1st April, 1918. It was formed at the end of World War I from the Royal Flying Corps and the Royal Naval Air Service.
The edge inscription of the coin reads “Per Ardua As Astra” meaning "Through adversity to the stars".
The obverse bears the fifth coin portrait of Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
The reverse was designed by the Royal Mint graphic designer, Rhys Morgan. The design features the RAF badge design.
