Paddington Bear at Buckingham Palace is the second of two Paddington Bear fifty pence coins to be released in 2018. This coin was issued by The Royal Mint to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Paddington Bear.
Paddington Bear was first published in 1958. It was created by Michael Bond.
The obverse of the coin shows the fifth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Jody Clark.
The reverse shows Paddington Bear outside Buckingham Palace. It was designed by The Royal Mint artist, David Knapton.
Paddington has a history with Buckingham Palace, as it's where Mr Gruber once took him to watch the Changing of the Guard. Paddington was unable to see over the crown, but luckily he was invited inside the gates to watch.
