The 2018 Gold Proof WWI Peace Dove £10 Coin from Jersey is supplied in a capsule. This commemorative gold proof coin marks the centenary of the First World War's end (1918-2018).

The coin comes with selective rose gold plating where the poppies are.

The End of World War I

On 11 November 1918, at 11AM - "the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" a ceasefire came into effect. At this time opposing armies on the Western Front began to withdraw but some areas of the front carried on gaining territory before the formal end of the war once the Treaty of Versailles was signed on 28 June 1919.

The Dove Design

The reverse features a dove that is seen a symbol of peace and marks the end of WW1 (1918) and is surrounded by poppies. Today poppies are worn by millions by countries in the Commonwealth and is the symbol of remembrance and hope for a world of peace.

Obverse

The obverse features the fourth definitive UK coin portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley and the inscription:

ELIZABETH II BAILWICK OF JERSEY • 2018 • TEN POUNDS •

Reverse

The reverse features a peace dove surrounded by poppies with the inscription:

CALM FELL • FROM HEAVEN DISTILLED A CLEMENCY • THERE WAS PEACE ON EARTH, AND SILENCE IN THE SKY •

This comes from stanza nine of Thomas Hardy's 'And There Was a Great Calm'.

It was designed by Matt Tindall.
