Platinum Wedding Anniversary

The 2017 Platinum Wedding five pound crown celebrates this momentous seventieth anniversary of the wedding of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Not only has Elizabeth II celebrated her Sapphire Jubilee in 2017 but she now adds being the longest married royal couple in British history.

The five pound crown is British legal tender although you will not see this coin in circulation or be able to use it in shops or banks.

Obverse

The obverse was designed by Etienne Millner and shows Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. It is the only official UK coin in 10 years to feature a combined portrait.

Reverse

The reverse was designed by the Royal Mint artist, John Bergdahl. It shows The Queen and Prince Philip riding horses, side by side. The text reads:

"Wedded love has joined them in happiness. 1947 - 2017"
