This is the 2016 British Lunar Year of the Monkey silver uncirculated coin.

This 1oz bullion coin is struck in 999 silver fineness and is the third coin in The Royal Mint's Shēngxiào Collection. The Year of the Monkey is the ninth animal in the Chinese lunar calendar. These lunar coins are British legal tender and are exempt from Capital Gains Tax.

This coin comes loose and you can add a 39mm capsule or gift box to your order in the basket.

NB: These coins are pre-owned. They may have slight scratches and production marks, which does not take away from their bullion value.

Royal Mint Lunar Coins

The bullion silver coins have a limited mintage figure of 138,888 coins. This number was chosen as the number 8 is thought to be particularly lucky in Chinese culture. The Royal Mint sold out of their trade allocation before the coins were even released.

Obverse

The obverse shows the Jody Clark fifth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the first coin in the series to have the new portrait.

Reverse

The reverse of the coin was designed by the British artist, Wuon-Gean Ho, who has designed all coins in the series to date. Taking inspiration from her Chinese and British descent, the coin features a playful monkey on the reverse. It is meant to symbolise the freedom, mischief and adventure of monkeys.

Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
