The 2015 proof sovereign is the last time the fourth coin portrait of Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley is featured on on the obverse of a proof sovereign. The reverse bears the classic engraving of St George and the Dragon by Benedetto Pistrucci. This coin is struck in 22 carat gold.

For the first time in over 100 years, there were two designs for gold proof sovereigns used in 2015. Coins produced after 2nd March, 2015, featured the fifth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Jody Clark. This coin is presented in a wooden box with a certificate of authentication.
All uncirculated bullion sovereigns featured the fourth portrait of Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley.
The obverse shows the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the final year that this appears on the sovereigns. The coin bears the legend:

The engraver's initials IRB are placed below the truncated neck.
The famous St George and the Dragon design by Benedetto Pistrucci is used on the reverse. His initials are set to the left of the date.
