In 2014 The Mint decided not to supply dealers with these coins and sales were lower than expected. Its more of the more difficult dates to find! The mintage figues on the leaflet show the maximum mintage that were due to be produced however a much lower number of coins were made, the data is available to look at on The Royal Mints website, under '2014 Dated UK Commemorative Coin Sales'

The gold proof sovereign comes encapsulated, and presented in a wooden presentation box. A certificate of authenticity is supplied with the coin. The issue limit for this proof sovereign is 7,500 but only 3263 were minted.

Obverse

The obverse features the fourth definitive coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. This portrait featured on sovereigns from 1998 until 2015. The engraver's initials IRB are set below the truncated neck. The obverse bears the inscription ELIZABETH·II·DEI·GRA REGINA·FID·DEF

Reverse

The reverse of the coin features the Benedetto Pistrucci design showing St George slaying the dragon. The date and the engraver's initials B.P. are in exergue.
