Horse Privy Mark

This 2014 coin features a horse privy mark, symbolising the lunar Year of the Horse, on the edge of the coin. Eight horses are inscribed into the edge in keeping with the Chinese belief that the number 8 is connected with prosperity and success. This is the first year a privy mark has been applied to Britannia gold coins. These coins are not generally available for sale in the UK.

Obverse

The obverse bears the fourth definitive UK coin portrait of Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley and the inscription:

Reverse

The reverse features the classic standing Britannia by Philip Nathan on a plain field. The coi bears the inscription:
