2013 Silver 8 Doubles Coin From Guernsey.

Struck by the Guernsey Independent Mint in a limited issue, an uncirculated investment quality one ounce .999 fine silver coin.

Double Coins

The one double was legal tender and first minted in 1830. 8 Doubles is the equivalent to the pre-decimal penny , 240 of them make a pound.

They were unlike most other world coinage as they did not feature the current head of state, the local government used a strictly Guernesiais motif.

The original seal bore the three lions of England, crowned later to become leopards, surmounted by a branch to represent the broom or 'plantagenista', Edward I badge of rank.

Below the seal was the French spelling of 'Guernesey', the legal and everyday language of the Island at the time.
