These 2013 1oz Mexican Libertad 1 Onza Silver Coins were manufactured by La Casa de Moneda de México (Mexican City Mint) that was formed in 1535.
The Libertad coins are bullion coins that was first issued in 1982, stuck in fine silver (0.999 fineness) and contains one troy ounce of silver.
The Silver Libertad is one of the most popular state-minted bullion coins, the popularity is believed to be due to low mintages in the 1990's therefore reflecting in a higher premium.
La Casa de Moneda de México is the national mint of Mexico and is the oldest mint in the Americas. It was formed in the 16th century (1535). Since 1983, coins are only produced in San Luis Potosí in Mexico and the headquarters of the mint are located at the Museo Nacional de las Culturas.
The obverse features the depiction of the Monumento a la Independencia stature (angel of independence) in the foreground, with the Mexican volcanoes (Popocatépetl and Iztaccihuatl) in the background. The inscription of the coin reads as:
1 ONZA PLATA PURA 2013 LEY .999
The reverse shows the coat of arms of Mexico. The inscription of the coin reads as:
