Quarter Sovereigns

The gold sovereign is a British coin which has over 500 years of history behind it. First introduced in 1489 as a gold hammered coin for King Henry VII, the modern sovereign was reintroduced in 1817. Specifications are still adhered to today and the sovereign is one of Britain's most popular coins for investors and collectors.

The quarter sovereign is issued as a proof coin for collectors and as an uncirculated coin for investors. The proof coin is struck to a higher definition and comes in a protective capsule in a presentation box with a certificate.

Obverse

The obverse bears the fourth definitive UK coin portrait of Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley.

Reverse

The reverse bears a special St George and the Dragon engraving by Paul Day which was commissioned to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
