This 2012 silver proof 1 kg Diamond Jubilee coin has been graded NGC PF 70 Ultra Cameo by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC). Only 600 of these coins were issued, making them extremely sought after.

These 2012 diamond jubilee coins are an excellent collector's item, having been sold exclusively by The Perth Mint and Chards. Each coin comes in a presentation box, accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.

This coin has been given the highest possible grade of PF70 by the NGC. It's worth noting that these coins have been graded as ultra cameo, which means there is a high definition between the matte and mirror finish on the design.

The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II

Elizabeth II acceded the British throne on 6th February 1952 after the sudden death of her father, King George VI She was not officially crowned until 2nd June 1953.

In 2012 the Queen celebrated her Diamond Jubilee. She is only the second British monarch to have reached this milestone event, with Queen Victoria having celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 1897.

Diamond Jubilee Coins

Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Diamond Jubilee (60th anniversary) on 6th February 2012. Many mints from around the Commonwealth issued coins in her honour, including Australia's Perth Mint.

We actually had some input into the design of this one kilo silver coin, after speaking with The Perth Mint at The World Money Fair in Berlin. Knowing that The Perth Mint are always good value, and issue high-quality coins, we decided to take the plunge and buy almost the entire mintage. The coins were sold exclusively by Chards and The Perth Mint!

Obverse

The obverse features the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, with the inscription:

Reverse

The reverse design features the St. Edward's Crown, worn by Queen Elizabeth II at her coronation. The design is edged by sixty diamond motifs; one to represent each year of Her Majesty's reign. The inscription reads:
