In 2010, The Royal Mint issued a four coin series focusing on the heraldic badges of the capital cities of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales by engraver Stuart Devlin.

This 2010 Belfast one pound silver proof piedfort coin is struck in 0.925 fineness and comes in a presentation box with a certificate of authenticity.

Two coins were released in 2010, one representing London and the other, Belfast. Two more coins were issued in 2011, one for Edinburgh, the other for Cardiff.

Each coin features a large official badge for the relevant capital city with the three remaining city badges below.

This coin features the edge inscription:

PRO TANTO QUID RETRIBUAMUS

This translates to:

'What shall we give in return for so much'

On 28th of March 2017, the circulated round pound was replaced by the 12 sided £1 coin. On the 15th of October 2017 the round £1 coin ceased to be legal tender.

Obverse

The obverse features the fourth coin portrait of Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley. His initials are below the truncated neck.

Reverse

The reverse design by Stuart Devlin featuring Belfast's heraldic city shield with the inscription:

Three smaller heraldic shields for the remaining cities feature below the main design.

Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
