History of the Scouts

Founded by Robert Baden-Powell in 1907, the Scouts began as a way to teach boys survival skills and values. The movement quickly grew internationally, emphasising outdoor activities, community service, and personal development. Today, it includes both genders and promotes leadership, adventure, and global citizenship.

Who Is the Chief Scout?

The current chief scout is Bear Grylls (Edward "Bear" Grylls). Bear was appointed in July 2009 becoming the youngest-ever Chief Scout of the United Kingdom and Overseas Territories at age 35.
