2006 Britannia Gold Proof Coin Set - Grade C
Britannia proof sets have been issued every year since 1987. This set contains a one ounce, half ounce, quarter ounce and one tenth ounce gold Britannia coins. The set has a total gold weight of 1.85 troy ounces, alloyed in 22 carat form.
These coins feature 'red spots' on the coins. This is a natural phenomenon which can occur to gold coins, particularly those containing an alloy of gold and another metal.
Red spot can occur on almost any gold coin, it certainly happens on 22 carat gold coins. We have seldom seen it on .999(9) fine gold coins, and presume it is virtually impossible for it to occur on actual fine gold (1.000/1.000).
Quite honestly it's not something that we tend to think of as bad. We believe that the existence of detail, and lack or wear is more important than an amount of colour change, but we are all different, and an individual is entitled to dislike red spot appearing on his gold coins, and to reject coins, other than pure bullion coins, which exhibit evidence of red spot.
The obverse was designed by Ian Rank-Broadley and shows the fourth coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
The reverse of the coin was designed by Philip Nathan and shows the classic standing Britannia design.

All investment products are based on the live precious metal price. Prices will be fixed once the item has been added to the basket and recalculates just before checking out.
If your product is not a graded coin and is considered a bullion item it should be noted that these are bought and sold on low premiums over their precious metal content and not solely for aesthetic purposes, therefore some products may have edge knocks and/or marks. These edge knocks and marks do not alter the specifications of the coins.
