This is a 2003 Andorra Uncirculated Euro Pattern Set.

It cointains nine coins, from the 1 cent piece to the 2 euro piece. All the coins are fixed in a presentation folder and are in uncirculated condition

As this coin set was issued at a time when Andorra was not officially using the euro, the coins are not legal tender and are known as 'pattern' coins. They were produced by the International Numismatic Agency.

Andorra and the Euro

Andorra did not have an official currency before adopting the euro. Before 2001, the currencies of its neighbours, the French franc and Spanish peseta, were used and accepted in the microstate. As such, this coin set is an unofficial 'pattern' set.

After the introduction of the euro, Andorra found itself using the euro currency unilaterally. Negotiations between the EU and Andorra eventually lead to a monetary agreement being reached, allowing the country to make the euro its official currency, and permitting it to issue euro coins from the 1st July 2013.

It was anticipated that this is what the Andorra euros might look like in 2003 when this set was made, but it wasn't until 2014 that Andorran euros were actually produced.

Pattern Coins

Pattern pieces differ from coins issued for general circulation. They are not official legal tender coins and are widely recognised by collectors as exceptional items.

Investment gold products are VAT-free, while silver products include VAT.
Cancellations & Returns:
Once you place an order, you cannot cancel it. We do not currently accept returns, however. You may be able to sell your investment products back to Chards at the current buy back rate.
