Issued by The Royal Mint in 2002, this gold coin is struck in a brilliant uncirculated finish. The coin bears the crowned shield engraving on the reverse which was commisioned to mark the Queen's Golden Jubilee. This coin is British legal tender and is free from Capital Gains Tax making it popular with investors looking for gold with numismatic interest.

Sovereigns can be issued in a number of different sizes and finishes. The £5 quintuple sovereign is the largest size that is issued. Brilliant uncirculated is a fairly recent grade, coins struck in this finish are struck twice to achieve more definition on the design.

This coin comes in a presentation box with a certificate of authentication.

Obverse

The obverse bears the fourth definitive coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley with the inscription ELIZABETH·II·DEI·GRA REGINA·FID·DEF

Reverse

The reverse bears the crowned shield engraving by Timothy Noad. His initials are set to the right of the wreath which surrounds the shield. The year date 2002 is below the wreath.
